Arthur woke the bright morning sun shining upon his face. It was peaceful, but strange. He never woke up after the sun has risen. Alfred had pulled him out for training every morning before sunrise. And now all of a sudden he was sleeping in. It was... odd.
What was even stranger, was Alfred was nowhere to be found. As Arthur pulled himself from the warmth of the blankets, he noticed Alfred wasn't in the room. Once he was dressed, he left the room. After further inspection, he found Alfred wasn't in the kitchen either. And his sword was gone as well.
Maybe he left for more training early. But why didn't he take me with him? Arthur sat down at the table, and noticed a small slip of paper. He looked at it curious, and read it. It said:
Dearest Arthur
A thousand apologies, my lord, but I had to leave. You brother is sending war parties tomorrow, and I knew that if I sent you, you would be killed. I know it is dangerous to go alone, but as long as you are alive, that is all that matters to me. I hope we get to see each other again. That is my greatest wish, to be together alive and well.

"That idiot!" Arthur ran out of the house, grabbing the sword Alfred leant him, and raced through the forest. He ran as far as he could, but upon reaching a nearby village, he found himself exhausted. He crouched down to rest for a bit, unsure about what to do. It wasn't until one of the villagers approached him.
"Excuse me, but are you by any chance Arthur?" Arthur looked up to see Alfred's friend Kiku. What luck!
"Kiku! Thank goodness. Alfred has gone to do something crazy that I should be doing and I have to go save him! Please do you have a horse to ride or anything?" Arthur was beyond panic at this point. The only thing keeping him in his right mind was the need to save Alfred.
"I understand. Come, you shall take my fastest horse." Kiku lead him to his stables and quickly prepared the horse for riding. Arthur thanked Kiku and jump on the horse. He raced off in direction of the palace, hoping that he wasn't too late.
Alfred, please be okay or I'll never forgive you!
